Created for deep personal meditation, or group guided meditation, this is a set of descriptive imagery
paragraphs designed to enhance meditation. A Lot of times people in guided meditation classes, and
the guides online, instructors will tell you “to imagine yourself in a certain place, other than the place
that you are currently in”. The problem with that for me has always been, that i have no idea where
i would like to imagine myself when asked that question. In those instances i usually end up finding
a hard time to imagine anything but the room that I'm currently sitting in.
If i can actually muster up the creativity to fictionally imagine myself elsewhere, then it's somewhere
vague and generally applicable to the genre of "calm and peaceful" like under a waterfall*, or on the
front porch of a lake house*.
Usually these fantasies leave me feeling like I'm missing the intended purpose of the exercise.
Primarily because the fantasy chosen doesn't point to any significant purpose in me. And that was
disappointing for me, because i really felt that these sort of guided meditations were something that
could make a real difference in my attitude.
So eventually, I looked to making my own set of Guided Meditations. Basing my choice of imagined
settings around the seven chakras of the Hindi religion(or the seven energy wheels) allowed me to
focus my imagined construct to represent specific areas of my life, creating especially effective visual
backgrounds to thoughts, emotions and concepts that were were emotionally solvent to me.

Chakras (Hindu word for energy wheel, or circle) are the various focal points in the subtle body used in the esoteric or inner traditions of Hindu religion. A concept found in the early traditions of Hinduism, they are treated as focal points, or putative nodes in the subtle body of the practitioner. They are believed to be embedded within the actual physical body starting at the base of the spine ascending upwards reaching to the crown of the head, whilst also originating within the context of mental and spiritual fields.
